Mrs. Hannah Rescigno, Principal
Welcome to York Intermediate School! I am proud to serve as Principal beginning for the 2024-2025 school year. I began my career as an 8th Grade Math Teacher at York Middle School. After teaching, I served as Assistant Principal for two years at York Middle School. For the last four years, I have been the Assistant Principal at Harold C. Johnson Elementary School. I am grateful that my entire career has been in York School District One- what a great district! I am a proud product of this district, and I am fully committed to building strong relationships with our students, parents, staff, and community. We’re going to have an excellent year! Go Cougars & Go Gamecocks!
Mr. Christopher Black, Assistant Principal
York Intermediate…what a great place to be! I am very excited to continue serving the students, faculty, and families of YIS. The 2023-2024 school year is my 27th year in public education (All in York School District ONE!). I graduated from the great Clemson University and began teaching Math at YCHS and YJHS for 12 years. During those teaching years, I also coached football, basketball, tennis, and golf. I received my Master's in Administration from the state university in Columbia in 2009 and began my work as a school administrator in 2010.
My wife (who also teaches in York) and I have two amazing daughters, one who is at YCHS and the other is in college. I am a York native and graduate of YCHS which allows me to have a unique understanding of our community's needs and strengths. Our district has so many great opportunities for our students to better themselves. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know our great students and helping them grow academically and socially. I look forward to this being a great year for our students!
Mrs. Kellie Mondo, Assistant Principal
I am eager to join the team at York Intermediate School to work alongside our staff to serve the families of York. This is my 4th year as an assistant principal in York School District One. I attended Virginia Tech and completed my Bachelor’s degree in education from The University of Nebraska at Omaha and my Master’s is Educational Administration from The University of South Carolina.
After growing up in Virginia and moving around as a military wife, we have been fortunate enough to call York County home since 2006. My husband and I have two daughters in their 20’s – one who works in Charlotte and one who works at Walt Disney World. I enjoy reading, crafting, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching college and professional football, and spending time with my family – including our miniature poodle, Ollie.
I am excited to be a part of the York Intermediate School team, and eager to work with you and your child. We are going to have the best year yet here at YIS!
